Course Introduction
Welcome to the California Powers to Arrest course! This 3-hour online class (Part A) is the first step in your security guard training. You’ll learn the basics of your authority to arrest, your responsibilities on the job, and how to stay safe and professional while carrying out your duties.
After completing this online course, you must Part B, a 5-hour classroom session with the same instructor. Together, Parts A and B give you the full 8 hours of Powers to Arrest training required for all new unarmed security guards in California. Your final certificate will be issued by your instructor.

Compliance Note
This training follows the official requirements of the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). Both Part A (3-hour online course) and Part B (5-hour in-person class with the same instructor) must be completed to meet the state’s 8-hour Powers to Arrest training requirement.
